Meet Your Hosts: Bill and Denise

In 1968, at just 17 and fresh out of boarding school, Bill acquired the Western Land leases for “Rossmore” and “Myola,” beginning a lifelong commitment to land management and sheep grazing on Rossmore. Denise and Bill were married in 1976, uniting two families with longstanding ties to the region. Together, they have three children and six grandchildren.

Bill and Denise are locals, they were raised in the backcountry, with generations of the families having land around the Tilpa, Hungerford, Enngonia, and Fords Bridge districts, bringing generations of history and a unique sense of place to their story. Denise’s heritage stretches back to Bourke's early days, with her great-great-great-grandparents arriving in 1862. Bill’s family history is equally storied, with the legendary Breaker Morant and Henry Lawson working on their properties in the late 1800s.

For those interested in delving deeper into the rich history of the land, Denise offers engaging station talks for groups. With stories of the land and its people, her talks bring the area’s heritage to life and are available by advance booking.
